FIAT has announced changes to its Grande Panda range, unveiling an additional hybrid trim level, as it prepares for a summer launch in the UK.
Grande Panda Hybrid Pop will be available alongside the previously announced Icon and La Prima trim levels and will be priced at just £18,035, making it one of the UK’s most affordable B segment vehicles with automatic transmission as standard.
The Pop version, created to enhance access to the Grande Panda range and provide customers with even greater choice, includes features such as an infotainment system with 10.25” screen, cruise control and LED lighting technology at front and rear. Also included are 16” steel wheels with aero covers, manual air conditioning and rear parking sensors.
The Icon trim level, which is priced at £19,035, comes with 16” black alloy wheels, roof rails and skid plates, central armrest and privacy glass.
The flagship of the hybrid range is the Grande Panda Hybrid La Prima. Priced at £21,035, it offers a rich specification including dedicated 17" alloy wheels, heated front seats and front and rear parking sensors with rear view camera. It also features high-quality fabrics, and the innovative “BAMBOX Bamboo Fiber Tex®”.
The fully electric Grande Panda remains available in just two configurations: the fully specified, top-of-the-range Grande Panda Electric La Prima, and the Grande Panda Electric (RED), a more accessible and socially relevant model that supports ethical causes through FIAT’s partnership with (RED), which was first established in 2021. The latter features distinctive design elements such as 16” white steel wheels and the “RED” logo on the B-pillar. The fully electric Grande Panda will have a starting price of £21,035, positioning it as one of the most affordable B-segment BEVs on sale in the UK. The La Prima version is priced at £24,035.
The hybrid version is equipped with a turbo 1.2 litre, T-Gen3 engine, 110 HP with a 48-volt Li-ion battery and eDCT (“easy drive” automatic transmission). This system seamlessly integrates a 21kW electric motor, an inverter, and a central control unit, together enabling smooth, efficient, and quiet driving. The additional electric power boosts flexibility at low RPMs and during acceleration, delivering a smooth and quiet start along with responsive transitions. Additionally, this technology allows for energy recovery during deceleration.
Thanks to the Miller Cycle, the vehicle achieves an estimated CO2 output of just 115 g/km on the Pop version and 117 g/km on Icon and La Prima (pre-homologation figures). The hybrid powertrain offers numerous advantages, including the e-launch function—the ability to start in 100% electric mode—to provide a smooth, silent startup with zero petrol consumption. Likewise, the electric engine boosts the vehicle’s efficiency and dynamics and enables the ICE to turn off in certain situations. It happens when travelling in the city or on rural roads with smooth driving, providing up to 0.6 miles electric range at speeds below 18 mph. It engages also in stable conditions, on flat roads or on a highway with a downhill slope when the driver releases the accelerator, enabling efficient power demand and battery management. The e-creeping function relies solely on electric power and is primarily used for making short forward movements without pressing the accelerator, such as when one is stuck in traffic (e-queueing). It is also used to park in 100% electric drive, either in first gear or in reverse (e-parking). The benefits of this technology are immediate with reduced consumption, greater environmental respect, less noise, enhanced comfort, and a more enjoyable driving experience. All the advantages are achieved also thanks to the dual-clutch transmission and the responsiveness of the powertrain.
With a 44kWh battery and an 83kW e-motor (113 HP), the electric Grande Panda offers 199 miles of range in the WLTP combined cycle, making it the perfect vehicle for urban daily use and weekend getaways. The electric Fiat Grande Panda boasts a maximum speed of 82 mph and a 0-62 mph acceleration in 11 seconds (11.5 for La Prima).
The new global model is equipped with an integrated AC retractable cable at the front (in addition to the rear charging port), capable of charging at up to 7kW, completing a charge from 20% to 80% in 4 hours and 20 minutes. As an alternative to the retractable cable, based on customer preference or specific market requirements, a rear-only 11kW charging port can be chosen, with a recharging time from 20% to 80% in 2 hours and 50 minutes. For both solutions, a standard DC fast charging port at the rear is included, offering 100kW charging power and completing a charge in just 27 minutes.
Both the electric and hybrid versions embody the “easy drive” philosophy, offering an unprecedented level of simplicity: just two pedals ensure a relaxed and effortless driving experience, particularly suited for urban environments.
With a choice of electric and hybrid powertrains, Grande Panda will enrich the B-segment, where FIAT has been a leader for decades. Designed at the Centro Stile in Turin, the Fiat Grande Panda is notable for its compact size and features clean lines and a well-organized interior, making it ideal for family life and urban mobility. The Grande Panda is the first FIAT built on the Stellantis “Smart-Car Platform” and will cater for the needs and expectations of all types of customers in all markets. It is the inaugural model of a new family set to be introduced in the coming years.
