Featured on Korando automatic models, the driver can select one of three drive modes, Normal, Sport or Winter, to suit conditions and promote safer driving.

Normal

  • Balancing the need for fuel economy and power
This default mode is utilized for day-to-day driving and is not indicated on the dashboard.

Sport

  • Delivers extra power at the expense of fuel economy
Starting from the NORMAL Mode, turn the driving mode switch clockwise to the SPORT mode, which will be indicated on the dashboard.

Winter

  • Starts the vehicle in second gear to prevent tires from slipping on icy roads in the winter.
When in NORMAL or SPORT, hold the driving mode switch for longer than one second to switch to WINTER Mode, which will be indicated on the dashboard.

Idle stop & go system

ISG is standard on all Korando automatic vehicles – it automatically shuts off the engine when at idle to enhance fuel economy and reduce exhaust emissions.

Noise, vibration & harshness

A sophisticated engine mount system, alongside powertrain and driveline suppression measures, maximises noise reduction and has allowed the Korando to attain superb levels of NVH. Using new construction features such as under floor damping, pillar cavity foam, and a sound absorbing roof liner, the Korando is effective in isolating engine, road and exterior sounds for a quiet driving experience.

Safety

Korando looks and handles well, but that’s not all – it’s also the safest and strongest Korando ever. A focus on safety is built-in from the body up, with a best-in-class chassis composed of 74% high-tensile strength steel. KGM has also fitted a 6 airbag system – which includes driver and passenger seat airbags, side and curtain airbags.

Safety for all includes a smart safety system – a continuously growing toolkit of advanced driving technology, designed to keep everyone safe on the road. This includes Autonomous Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Safety Distance Alert (SDA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Front Vehicle Start Alert (FVSA), along with driver aids such as High Beam Assist (HBA), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) and Driver Attention Alert (DAA).

With all of these safety features, it’s no surprise the Korando scored 5 Stars in the Euro NCap test.

Autonomous emergency braking system (AEBS)

When a frontal collision is anticipated, this function warns the driver and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision.

Front collision warning

Alerts the driver when another vehicle or pedestrian appears in the path of the vehicle.

Lane departure warning system (LDWS)

Notifies the driver when the forward camera module detects an unintended lane departure by the vehicle.

Lane keeping assist

The front camera module helps prevent unintended lane departure and if an unintended lane departure is detected (absence of a turn signal), LKA will automatically make a corrective steering adjustment.

Front vehicle start alert (FVSA)

Alerts the driver when preceding stopped vehicle begins to depart
